Hello business operations community, I am looking to gather some input on what you do to recognize employee's when they reach their 5, 10, 15 and 20 year work anniversary dates to ensure that we are in line with industry standards.

Thank you from Visit Eau Claire

I love this approach because it is consistent and easy for the organization to follow without being too costly. In lieu of a plaque, I've seen some provide a destination lapel pin with certain type and number of stones to reflect years of service. This is something the employees continue to wear at events and encourages conversations when others notice the differences.

    Hello everyone,

We do Certificates for years 1, 2, 5, 10, 15, and so on.

We do Challenge coins for years 2, 5, 10, 15, and so on.

At the beginning on the month, HR sends out letters and selection forms (attached) to the people with anniversaries in the following month. The employees elect how they wish to be recognized and how they would like their name on the certificate. HR then notifies department directors so they can see how their people wish to be recognized, as well as the responsible parties throughout the county to ensure the proper recognition takes place.

Please note: Due to Florida's very broad public records laws, most written communications to or from County employees regarding County business are public records, available to the public and media upon request. Therefore, this written e-mail communication, including your e-mail address, may be subject to public disclosure.

    Hi Jill,

We have two employees that reached the 20-year mark and one that is about to approach the 10-year mark and one that retired at the 20-year mark. I am meeting with our board to update some of our cultural policies around vacation to address gaps in years of service. For instance our vacation day increments are 1 year = 5, 2 year = 10, 3 year= 12, 4 year=12, 5 year=15, President = 20. We have a big gap between 5 to 20 years of service for vacation rewards. We do the social post for big milestones, a small staff party to recognize the employee's special day for big milestones, I take the employee out on their anniversary (personally I do this) either for lunch or after hour beverage. It gives us time to celebrate and reflect on their accomplishments and goals in sight, our staff signs an anniversary card to recognize each anniversary with positive messages and a small gift card of $25 to a local area restaurant or shop to enjoy. My co-worker loved this bobblehead that I gifted her when she reached 20 years. You can get this produced online easily.
