We are exploring the feasibility of creating a Destination Master calendar that would involve not just visitor-friendly events, but all the parks & rec facilities, schools and private events too. Everyone in the community could use it for planning purposes.  Does anyone else do something like this?  Can you share with me, and are there any best-practices or be wary of?   Thanks so much.

Our destination administers this site: https://flagstaff365.com/  Users must register and be confirmed by our team, and from there they can enter their own events. This minimizes workload for us while enabling a variety of content from all corners of the community. As far as best practices, I would only recommend ensuring you get the word out to as many partners in the community as possible to encourage its use, and to offer a brief one-sheet on how to register and the benefits that can be shared with new businesses etc. to streamline things.

    Hey Melody,

We manage a community based calendar through ITI Digital. Events are pulled into the calendar through geofencing, Eventbrite, google, as well as Facebook pages we are tracking. Once the event comes into the backend of the calendar, our team approves or denies the event. What's really nice about this calendar is we are able to tag the approved event, meaning we control where the event gets populated. Whether it's visitor-friendly, outdoor, downtown, kid-friendly etc. In addition, several of our partners within the community have the events calendar widget on their websites, which gives them the ability to have their events front facing on the calendar with the option to search for other events. Happy to jump on a call and dive deeper if needed.
