    Hi all,

We've been on ADP for a while and are starting to look around at what else is out there. Before I go too far down the demo rabbit hole, I'd love to hear from this group.

Who are you using (or have used) for payroll, timekeeping, and HR? What do you like, and what drives you crazy? And if you've made a switch: knowing what you know now, would you have changed anything? What went well, and what would you do differently?

A few things on my wish list:

    • Payroll that integrates cleanly with benefits, elections, 401(k), etc. (360 feeds)
    • Fully electronic onboarding, start to finish
    • Annual goals and reviews
    • Anonymous 360 / cross-functional feedback
    • Electronic HR records
    • The rest in one place: open enrollment, policy acknowledgments, compliance training, comp changes, W-2s, etc.

I've looked at BambooHR so far and have a few others on my list. Happy to share back what I find out.

    Thanks,

This is a really extreme solution, but it's working for us.

We entered into an agreement with WorkSmart Systems, a Professional Employer Organization (PEO). This concept was totally new to me but essentially we are all now co-employees with both our organization and WorkSmart. The primary attraction was the lower benefit costs - we saved about $15k this year across the board because of the reduced premiums on all of our benefits. And yes they also handle payroll, online onboarding, a great menu of HR training courses online, other training available in person, etc.

    And, yes, we'll get a referral credit . . .

    Hi Reed,

We went through this exercise earlier this year and we too review Bamoo HR and others. We ultimately made the switch to isolved in March 2026, and so far, so good! We have had a very positive experience with the platform and their team.

Based on your wish list, isolved can cover essentially everything you've outlined. One thing I like is that you can make the system as robust or as basic as your organization needs. We use it for payroll, benefits, electronic onboarding and HR records, and there are additional modules available for performance management, reviews, training, compliance, open enrollment, policy acknowledgments, compensation changes, 401k reporting, etc.

We are a small DMO and was able to negotiate a package to fit our budget. They have a point person for each module and extensive training. You will do it online, have it in a recording, have it in a procedure document, have it in a help button and of course can reach out to your contact for that module if needed. Their customer response time has also been very good, which was important to us.

The one thing I did not like-and something I would specifically ask about during implementation-is that they do not test new direct deposit accounts before the first payroll is processed. Inevitably, someone is going to enter a digit incorrectly! I would have preferred some type of prenote/test process before actual payroll dollars were sent.

The dashboard can be an adjustment to get used to as the tabs are not obvious on the screen and you may have to click once or twice in a subcategory to get where you need to. We are now already adapted, and it gets easier with practice.

Other than that, our transition has gone well, and after using it since March, I would definitely include isolved on your demo list.

Happy to share more about our experience if it would be helpful as you narrow down your options.

    Best,
    Melody

Thanks for this. I will add them to my list to check out. Did you look at others when making this decision? If so, what sold you on isolved?

I'm Bamboo all the way. It offers everything you need. My staff LOVE it; which is huge. I know you have already looked at it, but if you have any questions, please reach out.

Thanks. Did you look at other platforms besides Bamboo? What sold you on Bamboo vs others?
